RUBC Management Committee
Will Rand – Director of Rowing
Will has been Director of Rowing at Reading University since 2004. As a graduate of Reading he knows the University and boat club extremely well. He was born in Henley and spent many years rowing there at Upper Thames and Leander Club. He won at the prestigious Henley Royal Regatta in 2001.
Chris Bartley – High Performance Coach
Chris joined the RUBC coaching team following his retirement from the GB rowing team, where he was hugely successful, notably winning Olympic silver medal in 2012 and several World titles. He brings a wealth of knowledge and bags of enthusiasm.
Roddy Slater – Strength and Conditioning Coach
Roddy’s enthusiasm and drive makes him a true motivator for the RUBC athletes. He manages the boat clubs S&C programme and works closely with the students on injury prevention and nutrition. Roddy’s main sporting background was as an international athlete for over six years, where he specialised in the track sprint events. Following retirement from the athletics at the tender age of 22, he embarked on a competitive football career for several seasons. Football lead Roddy into team management, sports injury prevention and treatment, and he now runs his own health and fitness business. Roddy studied at Reading University and is passionate about seeing the hard work that the rowers put in pay off.
