Bumper BUCS regatta

RUBC returned from the BUCS regatta with an outstanding haul of 12 medal, including 4 gold, 2 silver and 6 bronze.

72 universities and over 2,600 students took part in a record-breaking three days of racing in Nottingham for BUCS Regatta 2023. This is Europe’s largest student regatta and is a great opportunity for university and college rowers to compete against the best in the country. The regatta is open to all levels of rowers, from beginners to experienced athletes.

The regatta is a super event for spectators as well as rowers. The racing is always exciting, and there is a fantastic atmosphere, with music, race commentary and the action all being streamed live on BUCS TV.

WIll Rand, RUBC’s Director of Rowing, said “All the students and coaches have worked so hard all year to make these results possible, it’s amazing to see that dedication pay off”. He added, “The student’s have to balance their studies with their rowing training, and these challenges develop skills which which will really help shape their futures, they’re a great bunch!”

Students are in the midst of exams, but have their eyes set of the upcoming summer regatta’s which culminate with Henley Royal Regatta in July.
