Epic Henley for RUBC

In very impressive first for RUBC, we made the final of the “Prince of Wales Challenge Cup” at Henley Royal Regatta.

The crew of Louis Powell, Sol Hewitt, Olly Dix and Josh Lyon beat Thames RC, Glasgow University and Danske Studenters Roklub, Copenhagen, Denmark, to take on Leander Club in the final. Sadly the Leander crew, which was stroked by alumni and former RUBC captain Rory Harris, proved too strong on the day.

The coaches were so proud of all the students efforts all year and this culminated in a what should be seen as a fantastic result for the whole club. It takes everyone hard work to make a success.

Making the final was one of many successes at the 2022 regatta.

The men’s “B” crew also qualified in the quads event and put up a good fight against Leander in the first round.

The RUBC women qualified for two events, a quad in the “Princess Grace Challenge Cup” and a double in the “Stonor Challenge Cup”. Both these are full international events, and the girls put in great performances taking a lot from the experiences.
