Brilliant BUCS
It was an incredible BUCS Regatta for RUBC. We finished 2nd on the medals table, with 7 gold, 6 silver and 2 bronze. This along with all our other fantastic performances put us an amazing 3rd in the overall VL standings, which is astounding when you consider we only scull 💜💜💜. We are incredibly proud of all of our athletes, and know the success is down to the hard work from all of them and our fabulous coaches.
The Quads:
The Men’s Ch4x led from start to finish to claim Gold, and the Men’s Intermediate squad dominated the Inter 4x category, with a 1-2 finish, and 3 boats in the A-final! 🥇🥇🥈.
The Women’s Championship 4x rowed well to take Silver, whilst the Intermediate 4x claimed a fantastic bronze. 🥈 🥉
The Doubles:
The Women’s Ch2x won an impressive Gold, and the Women’s Inter squad achieved strong results across the board in their doubles. 🥇
The Men’s doubles experienced lots of success. Matt Long and Josh Lyon led from start to finish to claim Gold in Ch2x. Dan Oakeley & Will Liddiard won Silver in a close Lwt Ch2x race, and our Men’s Inter 2x’s had an impressive 5 boats inside the top 12, including a Silver for Robbie Collen & Chris Thompson, and a Bronze for Joe Diver & Sam Cuthbertson. 🥇🥈🥈🥉
The Singles:
The Men’s singles produced 3 medals for RUBC. Matt Long & Josh Lyon dominated Championship 1x, coming away with an impressive 1-2 finish, whilst Ryne Robson stormed to victory over 84 other scullers in the Intermediate 1x category.🥇🥇🥈
The Women’s single. Ellie Cooke finished a close second to bring home Silver in the WCh1x, whilst the whilst Zara Povey had a strong race to also win the Women’s Inter 1x. 🥇🥇
Many of our athletes came away with medals, but even more performed fantastically well to rise to the occasion and push themselves on. Without everyone stepping up we couldn’t have achieved this amazing result.
